Get Motivated
Goodness gracious.
It is December first, 2009 gang.
Six months to the day till May, spring and the traditional open of the triathlon season. And that, of course, means Wildflower.
Looking for some motivation? The best way I have found is to jump in and get yourself registered for an event. You can work backwards from there. As of today, we have 150 days to train for Wildflower. That means base if you haven't already established it. Your foundation. The first row of bricks upon which everything else is built. The speed bricks sit atop the base bricks as do the endurance bricks. The power bricks are on top.
You build base fitness through structure. Monday, Wednesday, Friday for 60 minutes. Intervals. Stretch it out a little on Saturday or Sunday. Mix it up, cross train, so you aren't taxing the same muscle groups every session. Run, bike, swim, stretch, rest, recover, repeat. Base.
As we have been discussing, everyone responds differently to stress. Some run and hide. Others ask for more. Most of us fall somewhere in between. And that is why we train our bodies to withstand gradual increases of stress (resistance) in order to grow stronger. And growing stronger will make you faster. A lot faster than spending a grand on wheels I can guarantee.
What motivates you?
If you answered power, money, control or being one-up on your neighbors, you are on the wrong blog.
If you answered with one of the following, you may stay.
1) Being my best
2) Becoming more fit
3) Getting healthier
4) Finding balance
5) Working hard
6) Training smart
6) Having fun, working hard and training smart
7) Building base
8) Race preparation
9) Getting faster
10) Wildflower
It's December first. We race on May first. You have 150 days.
Get motivated.
Video is of the world famous Wildflower long course. Looks like it might be the next RCV to be released.
