More from CdA. This incident happened around 17 minutes into the ride. I saw it as I rode past on the scooter and thought to myself, how sad. Upon download of the video and a closer inspection (in super slo-mo) it tells a clearer story of what really happened. Although there was an absence of malice and seemingly no criminal intent http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mens_rea, the perp still ended the victims day and most likely sent her to the ER. Not the way you want to have your race day end.
So as a PSA, what do we do with this? I have listed a few options in the video and suspect that there are a few others. Your thoughts?

I am available for referrals. At a minimum, the guy should have stopped. He real bad.
Poor guy is taking a beating on some of the other forums...maybe he NEEDS a lawyer!!!
AND...there is some speculation that the gal that went down, breaking her clavicle, finished the race! That would be another 109 miles on the bike and a full marathon with a broken collar-bone. OMG. And at one time I thought I was tough.
She tough. I went to a meeting at Gold Mountain Golf Course yesterday and after went into the pro shop and was looking at all these 'game improvement' clubs, etc. they have now, e.g., putters with large stabilizing 'wings', belly putters and all these other tools for making the game less taxing; golf carts, pull carts etc. I had to tell the pro there that although I have played since I was young that I always considered it kind of a whoossey sport and that now it has become (with all this new junk) the height of whoossi-dom. And, no endorfins or anything.
Turns out that the gal in the video is not the one that finished the race with the broken clav. I am still researching who she is and the extent of the damage.
More money on the PGA circuit than in Pro Triathlon however, assuming you can drive it long and never three putt. You got it on the endorfins! In fact I am going to the club for another withdrawal as we speak....
You film is Exhibit "1".
Think I'll change my handle to CSIman
USA Cycling Rule 1Q6: No rider may make an abrupt motion so as to interfere with the forward progress of another rider, either intentionally or by accident [relegation or disqualification; possibly 20 days suspension if a crash results].
When this tree fell in the forest there was but one person to witness---he just happened to have a camera at the time....No ref-no penalty. Comes down to ethics and sportsmanship. Consensus is that he should be outed and publicly flogged.
IMHO, the USA Cycling rule is more apropos than the USAT rule cited in the video, with the understanding that on an IM course there is no drafting so honest riders are by definition three bike lengths from each other to begin with.
