RCV '48

Here is some fun stuff I found while searching for public domain footage. From a bicycle safety film produced in Oakland and Berkeley, CA in (sepia gasp) 1948. More (maybe much more) on this later. Please note that the cinematic capture technique used here (car cam) is still in use today, all we did was add color, smooth cam filters, triathlon and helmets.

This reminds me of going down the big hill by our house as a kid standing on my banana seat that I had adapted to my Schwinn. not sure how I survived childhood.

We lived on a hill called the "Mile a Minute", the steepest sonofagun in town. Peeled many a kid out from underneath parked cars. I am as rebellious as the next radical biker, but to think that there are still peeps who choose not to wear a helmet while mixing it up with traffic amazes me.

As each day passes I am continually amazed that the collective 'we' have made it this far......
