Better

I was informed the other day of a term, more a strategy, used in the world of volleyball. It calls for each player, no matter the challenge, to "better the ball". With each play the team thusly stands a more opportune chance of winning the point. No matter how bad the preceding dig, set, spike or serve, YOUR mission, as a team player, is to do whatever it takes to 'better the ball' so that the next player stands a greater chance of doing similar (success).

The metaphor today on this historical occasion, should be fairly obvious. BHO has been given a near impossible play against an imposing foe. His teammate gave him nothing to work with except the challenge of accepting the challenge and doing his best to, yes, better it. To better the ball. You and I are on that same team. And it's about time that we realized that our team colors are not limited to red, white and blue. It is a global team made up of every nationality, faith and culture. Today I am immensely proud to be on this team. I humbly invite each one of you to help us better the ball.

America, in the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

Your serve.

I think it is always nice that despite all the 'separation' stuff that our leaders always acknowledge God's existence.
