The smell of carnitas

OK, lots to cover today as a result of BoB the DJ playing Hotel California in class this morning. Here is an interesting site on rock lyrics that spends altogether too much time trying to decipher the song's meaning, but is enjoyable and informative NTL (depending on to who's theories you subscribe). http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=1121

Also was the continued search for meaning coming off today's theme of "Change is Good" and my comparison of a Chevy truck versus a Porshe. http://thefuturebuzz.com/2008/02/11/work-vs-play/ So I got into a PC vs Mac, speed vs power, knowledge vs wisdom, and (you ladies will love this one), passion vs power search. http://www.technologyoforgasm.com/

All submitted for your thought provoking approval (with apologies to Auguste Rodin).

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit,
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

I think if I had a chance to have either the Eagles or Lucinda Williams play in my living room,I'd likely pick Lucinda especially given the setting. On balance, I like Lucinda's lyrics better too. Although I was in Winslow, AZ once and it was like a ghost town, that was cool. Jim Morrison or Janis Joplin. Probably Janis. Add Dolly Parton and that would be a great concert. Hmmm, Lucinda, Janis and Dolly trio in my living room. Better add Bonnie Raitt doing a few Jackson Browne covers. Yeah, Lucinda, Janis, Dolly and Bonnie.

You can check out any time you like but you can never leave. In the comparison/choice paradox lots of folks pick both. That may be part of our problem. You can have it all, but you can never have all of it. And we can all (us boys anyway) relate to a girl in a flat bed Ford slowin' down to take a look, no?

Here at RCVman HQ, we try to maintain a degree of professional decorum. In keeping with this we periodically publish disclaimers, corrections, apologies and updates designed to keep you, dear readers, ahead of the curve, a critical aspiration in this day and age. It was brought to my attention by a young senorita taking my order yesterday at a Mexican cantina that carnitas means "little meat" and is most commonly braised pork. Seems I had clumsily committed anther lingual faux pas thinking that it was the smell of carnitas rising up in the air, instead of the Henley/Frey detection of the sweet smell of colitas (little buds). We stand corrected. We also stand grateful that we can still say cerveza and get a cool one and not a punch in the nose. RCVman can be one silly gringo.
