Arms Around Bainbridge

Kicking off the new year with a PSA. As many of you know there are many altruistic and philanthropically oriented individuals and groups on Bainbridge Island, providing massive amounts of assistance to those in need. This list is as long as it is vital.

It is our community. And we help. However we can.

I have been working behind the scenes with a few of the generous and talented people at Arms Around Bainbridge. In the remote case that you don't know what they do or who they are, I will capsulize:

They raise local awareness and support dollars for neighbors in their time of dire need.  In the past their signature fund raising event was a (gasp) swim around the Island. A freezing cold, against the current freestyle in the dark murky waters of Puget Sound. Seriously. This is the equivalent of riding a fixed gear bike across the US. It is a relay requiring monumental courage and strength. You couldn't get me to do this for all the gold in Vegas.

But they do. Every year. And benefits go to one of our neighbors who doesn't have the choice.

Adding excitement to opportunity, the good folks at AAB, have expanded their fundraising fun to include a cycling component. YEA!!! Now I can put my money where my fat mouth is. And so can you.

And we are going to help. Yes we are.

Please visit their blog or Facebook site which includes all pertinent information about AAB and how to get in touch, sign up and get involved.

We are planning some event specific training spins in the near future as well as a custom benefit course or two in support.

I am 110% behind their efforts and look forward to joining you as we provide some pedal power to help others. We have been practicing finding the groove-zone-sweet-spot, and here it is. This is the Bull's Eye gang.

Please e-mail, or post any questions, comments or suggestions.
50K is a lofty goal when riding solo. Collectively, we can do it!
