We ripped off the Terrible Two's this morning. Two minutes pushing out of saddle, with a one minute seated recovery at 120 rpm. Increasing one gear every climb until at minute 48 we were faced with a dilemma. We stood on the business end of gear 23, one notch from the Keiser's max. What to do? What to do?
We have an understanding that once you detect (presence, awareness, management, objectivity) a decrease in the efficiency of your form (from resistance, speed, duration) you have reached max. Go no further until you have mastered that level. We did the final terrible two's at 15 and 18 respectively. If was a super session for a Tuesday morning.
Afterwords I stood in the Safeway choosing my recovery drink. The beverage with a whopping 40 grams of protein also carried 120 of them through fat cals and also packed a equally whopping 38 grams of sugar. I suppressed the urge and choose carrot juice with 1 gram of pro but also only 12 grams of sugar. I also picked up a special desert for tonight because, well, Tuesday's are special. In a carpe diem sort of way.
Here are two outstanding editorials on fueling our efforts. The first is from Chris Carmichael. His Big Three on losing that last 10 pounds is brilliant:
1) Get OK with being hungry.
2) Learn to say NO.
3) Be patient.
Secondly is Matt Frazier on good eating, his eight:
1) Avoid processed foods.
2) Eat mostly food from plants.
3) Go raw.
4) A smoothie and salad every day.
5) Cut the wheat. See photo example above.
6) Eat a variety of foods.
7) Know when you're hungry.
8) Break the rules from time to time.
I like that last one. Now is the time to dance footlose upon the earth.
Now that our work is done.
