To DO or NOT to DO

June One. WOW, seems like only yesterday it was May. Party is over folks, time to get out and see what good our long, dedicated and focused winter and spring training

has produced. To this end I have assembled the official RCVman list of Marathon

race week Dos and Do Nots To wit:

DO NOT panic and go for ONE LAST long run

DO NOT fear your fitness

DO NOT over indulge in alcohol to calm nerves

DO NOT eat every carbohydrate within a 50 mile radius

DO NOT worry about the weather

DO NOT lose sight of your goal

DO NOT try anything new (food, gear, pacing)

DO NOT trivialize the distance

DO NOT second guess yourself, your training or your sanity

DO NOT forget your race number

DO trust your race day strategy

DO Run Happy

DO thank the volunteers and police

DO think positive thoughts (especially at mile 20)

DO drink early and often

DO take on simple carbs starting at mile 10

DO find your flow

DO stay within yourself (until mule 22, then let 'er rip)

DO finish strong

DO relax

DO your best and be grateful for the opportunity to see who you have become.

If I had (at gunpoint) to pick THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE from each list, they would be the italicized.

Guess what showed up yesterday? That's right, the new frame. It's actually a recycled (used) Kestrel KM40 aluminum 650. The big brown truck placed the new red frame on my deck, and now the fun begins. Tom at BI Cycle and I have conspired to do a little promo trade on the build up, so this is a story you are all invited to share. We'll take the best parts off of The Great Panuzzi and surgically transplant them onto the KM40, in order to create a racing machine even Mary Shelley would appreciate. (I am sensing a nickname).

Lastly today, I am heading back down to Hood River, OR tomorrow night to shoot the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic. Friday is the 84 mile Road Race, Saturday is BOTH the 10.6 Time Trial and the Criterium, and Sunday (if I am not in Sequim for the NODM) is the 72 mile Stage 4 Road Race.

I will find out this evening if, or if not, I will get the OK to shoot Sunday instead of shout.

DO NOT shout (coach), or

DO shoot (video)

Sadly, it's one or the other.

That is all the news that fits, today, June One.

Pics: The recycled Kestrel KM40, UPS does the drop, Tom at BI Cycle using the CompuTrainer for bike fits. News that fits.
